ART AND MEDIA DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC DISCUSSED ENTHUSIASTICALLY IN FSMR 2020 VIRTUAL SEMINAR

Art is one of the fields that has been hit as hard as other industries in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Various art modifications during the pandemic have been intensively carried out. Conventional face-to-face meetings are now converted into a online meeting In order to keep the art ecosystem running, it is necessary to elaborate concrete steps that are sustainable by involving other universities as well as the community and art activists in general. In accordance with its role as a university engaged in the field of recording media arts, it is necessary to elaborate concrete steps that are sustainable by involving other universities as well as the community and art activists in general.

On Monday - Tuesday, October 26-27, 2020, the Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), ISI Yogyakarta held a seminar which was held virtually using the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform and also the Youtube Channel. Process and technical live streaming The seminar was held at the Television Department Studio, FSMR. The seminar was open to lecturers, researchers, artists, students, art practitioners, and art activists who are involved in the world of arts and humanities and was held with the aim of discussing the dynamics of art and media during the Covid-19 pandemic and exploring and mapping the existence of art and media in general. 

The seminar held this time presents the theme "Art and Media during the Covid-19 Pandemic". This theme was taken as a form of concern for the current pandemic as well as a positive response as an art education institution to continue to share knowledge and insights into art and consistently become a channel for artistic aspirations even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. FSMR virtual seminar invites  Dr. G.R. Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A (Researcher, Anthropologist, and Head of the Performing and Fine Arts Studies Program, UGM Yogyakarta) as a resource person on the first day with his presentation entitled "Beyond Pandemic: Recording Performing Arts". While on the second day, the Dean of FSMR, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. (Researcher, Lecturer of Photography Study Program, and Dean of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts, ISI Yogyakarta) was also present as a guest speaker by presenting material entitled "Disruption of Media Art Post Pandemic".

The Chairperson of the Virtual Seminar, R.R. Ari Prasetyawati, S.H., L.LM, explained that this seminar is actually a good stimulus to arouse the productivity of academics and researchers, or even artists and other parties in the art ecosystem to express their critical thoughts through a written work which can later become material for study in the art world in the future. Meanwhile, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., stated that this virtual seminar is actually also a form of adjustment to the current virtual and online phenomenon. The hope is that from this activity a new perspective will emerge in seeing the art ecosystem that must continue to survive in this difficult time.

The two-day virtual seminar brought together 21 selected presenters to present their findings, ideas and thoughts and then exchange them with the audience and fellow presenters. All the presenters were present in the Zoom virtual space which was divided into two more concentrated virtual spaces on art and everything related to art and on media and its relation to communication and culture and learning. At the end of the second day, the closing session announced the best paper which will later be directed to national indexed scientific publications.

Dean of FSMR, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. monitored the Virtual Seminar "Art and Media during the Covid-19 Pandemic", Monday (26/10). The seminar which was held online did not reduce the enthusiasm of the participants as evidenced by the large number of participants from outside the region and outside the ISI Yogyakarta campus.

Oscar Samaratungga, S.E., M.Sn. asked questions to the main speaker, Dr. Gabriel Roosmargo Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A. during the Virtual Seminar "Art and Media during the Covid-19 Pandemic", Monday (26/10). In his presentation, Dr. G.R. Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A. tried to summarize the problems of the artistic process during the Covid-19 Pandemic, especially the world of performing arts.
