The Photography Department Student Association (HMJ), Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta carried out archiving and revitalization activities for photo collections in the Photography Study Program Building, on Wednesday (1/29/2020). The archiving of these photo works is intended to update data and maximize the capacity of storage space so that the stored collection works can maintain their quality. Meanwhile, the policy of involving students in this activity aims to train and improve their insights and skills related to data management of collection works. In addition, students are also taught how to act when interacting with works of art.

The activity, supervised by Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., began with recording the works in the collection. Furthermore, the works that have been recorded will be sorted based on their physical condition. Works that are still good will be rearranged in the storage room, while damaged works will be repaired and stored with special treatment. Considering that the collection works which are photographs of lecturers, students, and colleagues are part of the journey of the development of the Photography Study Program itself, the actions taken will be based on the standard principles of collection management.

There are approximately 150 works in the collection, some of which are photographs of the first batch of Photography Study Program students. In addition, photo works of colleagues from within and outside the country are also part of the collection. Therefore, this data management and revitalization activity is important as a direct learning process for students about the development process of photographic works in terms of presentation, printing, work concepts and popular photographic ideas of the time.
