On July 18, 2020, a screening of a documentary film entitled "Jalan Menuju Specialty Coffee Kaliangkrik Arabica Coffee" in Ngawonggo village, Kaliangkrik, Magelang. This documentary film work comes from a joint research between lecturers of Film & Television Study Program, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta and Institut Seni Indonesia Surakarta. The research was titled "Designing Web Series Documentary Film as a Medium for Revitalizing Javanese Coffee in Ngawonggo Village, Kaliangkrik District, Magelang Regency, Central Java".
Acting as a research team are Latief Rakhman Hakim, M.Sn (ISI Yogyakarta), Pius Rino Pungkiawan, M.Sn (ISI Yogyakarta), Widhi Nugroho, M.Sn (ISI Surakarta), and I Putu Suhada, M.Eng (ISI Surakarta). The research process that was carried out for approximately one year took the object of the Mekar Lestari farmer group in Ngawonggo Hamlet, Kaliangkrik District, Magelang Regency.
In addition to conducting research, the research team also produced a documentary film about the object of its research, with a duration of 18 minutes. The movie discusses the struggle of farmers in Ngawonggo Village who want to switch from tobacco farmers to coffee farmers because the tobacco commodity has become uncertain. This change process was followed by a struggle to make Kaliangkrik Arabica Coffee have a standardized standard. Specialty CoffeeThis will increase the economic value of the coffee.
The production of this documentary film also involved several other lecturers and students of Film and Television Study Program from ISI Yogyakarta and ISI Surakarta, namely, Widhi Nugroho, M.Sn and Latief Rakhman Hakim, M.Sn (Director), Pius Rino Pungkiawan, M.Sn (Camera Director), Arif Sulistyono, M.Sn and Yuzakki G.F Bagaskara (Sound Director), Raya Buwana (Music Director), Yuzakki G.F Bagaskara, Pius Rino Pungkiawan, M.Sn., and M. Adam Husein (Editors), Antonius Janu Haryono, M.Sn (Sound Editing), Erviyanto Nugroho (Pilot Drones), Alicia Tri Aprilia Gunawan (Transcript), Latief Rakhman Hakim, M.Sn, Widhi Nugroho, M.Sn, and Pius Rino Pungkiawan, M.Sn (Research & Script). The production team named their group as the Indonesian Coffee Encyclopedia production house (Indonesian Coffee Encyclopedia).
Screening of a documentary film titled "The Road to Specialty Coffee Kaliangkrik Arabica Coffee" was attended by Kaliangkrik Sub-District Head and Magelang District Agriculture and Food Crops Office, KOMINFO Magelang, Ngawonggo villagers, Mekar Lestari farmer group, Magelang Coffee Community, barista, and owner of the coffee shop. cafe in Magelang and Jogja, as well as lecturers and students of ISI Yogyakarta and ISI Surakarta. The movie screening began at 10:00 am and was followed by a discussion about coffee farming and village potential, until the event ended at 12:00 pm. The documentary film "Jalan Menuju Specialty Coffee Arabica Coffee Kaliangkrik" has also been registered for IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) to protect the copyright. This work is the first series, while the second series is currently in the post-production process. It is hoped that the research output in the form of a documentary film can inspire many parties to advance the potential of their respective regions.
