OPENING OF EXHIBITION AND SCREENING OF RECORDED MEDIA ARTWORKS "REBIRTH.REFORM.REVIVAL" IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE 37TH ANNIVERSARY OF ISI YOGYAKARTA

The 37th Dies Natalis of ISI Yogyakarta is the second Dies Natalis celebration held amidst the pandemic. This year's commemoration is carried out in a limited offline format as a form of adaptation, which also serves as the main theme of the 37th Dies Natalis of ISI Yogyakarta, namely “The Revival of Art in the Era of New Normal”. In response to this theme, the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (FSMR) supports ISI Yogyakarta's grand program plan by holding an exhibition and screening of recorded media artworks under the title "Rebirth.Reform.Revival".

The title of this exhibition is carried with the hope that this moment can become a new era of art revival in the era new normal. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, almost all artistic activities were halted due to several months of restrictions that people worldwide had to observe for the collective good and safety, including in the art world. During this period, art was reborn with new habits formed to adapt to the existing conditions, with new methods designed to maintain its existence. Ultimately, art was able to rise again by continuing to develop experiments in its processes, techniques, and presentation methods.

Exhibition "Rebirth.Reform.Revival" is a new presentation in the art event because it is organized in a manner of hybrid  (Online and offline). Physical exhibitions are still organized on a regular basis offline at the Pandeng Gallery, FSMR, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta so that art lovers can still get an aesthetic experience by directly witnessing the exhibited artworks while strictly adhering to health protocols. The film screening and the entire exhibition implementation were also organized ________ Online on the Galeri Pandeng website www.galeripandeng.isi.ac.id to reach a wider audience.

This year, FSMR features 90 works, including photography, fictional films, TV programs, documentaries, animated films, character designs, and 3D modeling. These works were curated by Dr. Samuel Gandang Gunanto, S.Kom., M.T. (animation), Agustinus Dwi Nugroho, S.I.Kom., M.Sn. (television), and Kurniawan Adi Saputro, S.I.P., M.A., Ph.D (photography). It is hoped that this exhibition and screening of media art works can become a new milestone in the revival of the arts which are still struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic, so that various screenings, exhibitions, and art performances can flourish once again.
