GHALIF PUTRA SADEWA EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF COLLECTIVE WORK IN THE FFPJ XVI FILM WORKSHOP

Yogyakarta – The “Gugur Gunung in Creative Film Work: Ideas and Execution” workshop featured Ghalif Putra Sadewa, M.Sn., a lecturer from the Photography Study Program, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) at ISI Yogyakarta, as a speaker. The event was held on Saturday (9/13/2025) at the Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta campus and was attended by 46 participants from high schools and vocational high schools across Indonesia, who were nominees for the Jogja Student Film Festival (FFPJ) XVI 2025.

In the workshop, Ghalif emphasized that film production is a collective effort that cannot be done alone. He said that mutual understanding is important to ensure everyone contributes their role in the creative process.

He believes that film also plays a role as a learning medium that helps people recognize and understand diverse perspectives beyond those of the filmmakers. “Film as a learning medium serves as a concrete example of good practice in recognizing, understanding, and accepting various differences outside of ourselves,” Ghalif said.

He added that through film, creators can share ideas and concepts with others. “At the very least, we can share ideas, concepts, and interesting things with others through what we offer, which is the film itself,” he said.

This workshop adopts the concept of “gugur gunung”—a distinct Indonesian form of mutual cooperation—as the main philosophy for creative filmmaking. Participants are invited to understand that film is not merely a visual work but also the result of solid teamwork collaboration.

The Jogja Student Film Festival (FFPJ) XVI 2025 is an annual event that gathers works from high school/vocational high school students from all over Indonesia. Through this workshop, the committee strives to enrich participants' insights so they are more courageous in exploring ideas, working collectively, and producing more mature works.
