SOCIALIZATION OF PREVENTION AND HANDLING OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE (PPKS) FSMR ISI YOGYAKARTA

SOCIALIZATION OF PREVENTION AND HANDLING OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE (PPKS) FSMR ISI YOGYAKARTA

Yogyakarta, September 9, 2025 – The Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (FSMR) of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta and the ISI Yogyakarta Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) held a socialization on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) for new students titled “Empowered Civitas Prevent Violence.”.
The event opened with remarks from Dr. Edial Rusli, S.E., M.Sn., Dean of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta. In his speech, he emphasized that prevention is the most important step so that students not only know but truly understand and apply healthy social ethics within the campus environment. The socialization on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) was then officially opened symbolically by the Dean of FSMR.

The event continued with a presentation by Endang Mulyaningsih, S.I.P., M.HUM., who explained the role of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) in preventing and addressing cases of sexual violence on campus. She presented various situations that have occurred both on and off campus, and highlighted the importance of consent in interactions and understanding the psychological condition of victims, such as tonic immobility. She also explained that PPKS has limitations in its authority. Serious cases, such as rape, must be handled by the police, with support from the Provincial PPA (Women's Empowerment and Child Protection) for counseling and legal assistance.

In addition, the differences between PPKS and PPKPT were discussed. Many misunderstandings arise due to the academic community's lack of understanding of the SOP for handling cases at PPKS. He added that it is important to understand the hierarchy of rules, from Ministerial Regulations to Laws, so that case handling proceeds in accordance with the legal framework. The next session was filled by Viona Marselia, who presented “21 Forms of Sexual Violence” as stipulated in Ministerial Regulation Number 30 of 2021. This explanation was provided so that the academic community understands the forms of sexual violence regulated by law, so they can be more vigilant and able to recognize violations early on.

Before the event concluded, the activity continued with a discussion and Q&A session. In this segment, participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and share their views, making the event atmosphere more interactive until its closing. With this socialization, it is hoped that all members of the academic community at ISI Yogyakarta will become more aware and courageous in taking a stand to prevent and respond to cases of sexual violence on campus.
