The Indonesian Arts Festival (FKI) event is an activity held every two years which aims to strengthen the fraternal ties of arts colleges through collaborative practices driven by the intellectual productivity of arts colleges throughout Indonesia under the auspices of the Indonesian Arts College Coordinating Board (BKPTS). The creative spaces and activities of FKI-XI 2021 are now designed as a representation of the intellectual excellence and creative development of cultural arts supporters, especially within the Indonesian College of Arts (PTSI).
ISBI Bandung as one of the centers of Indonesian Cultural Arts Higher Education in West Java at the 2021 event was asked to host the 11th Indonesian Arts Festival (FKI) by implementing cultural diversity strengthened by the harmony of art in a cultural ecosystem with the theme "INDONESIA ART SPIRIT : Diversity & Cultural Ecosystem". FKI XI will be held on October 20-25, 2021 with various agendas of art activities.
Practically, this activity will involve several art universities located in several major regions in Indonesia, namely Aceh, Padang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, Jakarta Bali, and even Papua. This involvement was chosen based on academic curation or based on the existence of art colleges from regional zones in Indonesia. The purpose of organizing FKI XI, among others, is as a gathering place for all art universities throughout Indonesia in the concentration of promoting national culture. In addition, this activity will also open up space for maximum cultural diversity to allow each cultural entity to have good growth, and to embrace cultural heritage owners to be able to collaborate which will stimulate potential entrepreneurs to formulate an arts business network in the country.
The categories of works that will be displayed at FKI XI are: performing arts works including dance, music, and theater; fine arts and photography works; documentary film works; and scientific works. The exhibition and viewing of works will be carried out virtually through stream Youtube channel, Zoom, and also through the Artsteps Virtual Exhibition platform - a virtual gallery service.
Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta began preparing to participate and contribute to the grand event of FKI XI in October in Bandung. Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR)ISI Yogyakarta also rushed to prepare itself by opening the call for exhibition and call for papers which is a big part of the FKI XI series. Each study program (Prodi) in FSMR has coordinated its lecturers and students to take part as delegates of FKI XI, Bandung - 2021 which carries the theme "Indonesia Art Spirit - Culture Ecosystem & Diversity". Especially for works of art in the form of photography, animated films, and documentaries, the deadline for collection is given until September 25, 2021 with coordination from each study program.
