Yogyakarta, February 28, 2025<\/em> An exclusive discussion with director Bobby Prasetyo was successfully held at Studio 1, Film and Television Study Program, Faculty of Recording Media Arts, ISI Yogyakarta. The event, which took place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM WIB, presented an in-depth discussion on the career journey of a film director, from the initial steps in the industry to strategies for surviving in fierce competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bobby Prasetyo is an Indonesian film director born in Semarang. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Study Program, Faculty of Visual Media Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. His directorial debut in a feature film began with Mom, The Love Story of 2 Yards<\/em> (2018), where he collaborated with Ali Eonuia. The film earned Bobby and Ali a nomination for the Iqbal Rais Award at the 2019 Maya Awards for best directorial debut. Bobby Prasetyo has also directed several films that received positive reception, including Grandmother<\/em> (2021), Taboo<\/em> (2022), Pamali: Pocong Village<\/em> (2023), Devil Cult<\/em> (2023), as well as Devil's Horn<\/em> (2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this session, Bobby Prasetyo shares his real-life experiences regarding the twists and turns of his journey in the film world. He recounts the beginnings of his career, the challenges he faced, and the creative process in directing a film. This talented director also explains how to build a vision in his work, collaborate with crew and actors, and overcome production obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion was interactive with high enthusiasm from the participants, the majority of whom were film and television students. A variety of questions were asked, ranging from tips for aspiring directors, how to build a strong portfolio, to the challenges of realizing creative ideas. Bobby Prasetyo openly shared insights and motivation, emphasizing that consistency and perseverance are the main keys to achieving success in the film industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This discussion is expected to motivate aspiring directors to keep creating and face industry challenges with an unfailing spirit. With the success of this event, the Film and Television Study Program is committed to continuing to present other inspiring discussions to support the development of filmmaking in Indonesia.
