The Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia (FSAI) returns to Indonesia on June 18-27, showcasing the best of Australian and Indonesian films live to audiences across the archipelago. The Department of Television, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) ISI Yogyakarta since 2020 has been one of the most recognized partner<\/em> in celebration of the FSAI event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time in its six-year history, FSAI was held virtually, giving Indonesian moviegoers across the archipelago the opportunity to access high-end Australian and Indonesian cinema films for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spanning a variety of genres, these 2021 films are a celebration of stories that highlight Australia's history, diversity and creativity, enriching the horizons of audiences across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indonesian Australian Cinema Festival opened with the premiere of 'The Furnace<\/em>' in Indonesia, highlighting the forgotten story of Australian 'Ghan' camel riders from South Asia, who crossed the unforgiving Australian desert during the Australian gold rush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival also features many stunning views of Australia's South West coast in 'Jaimen Hudson: From Sky to Sea<\/em>', an inspiring documentary that follows Esperance, Australia native Jaimen Hudson's photographic exploration of Australia's crystal clear oceans, and the story of overcoming challenges to pursue his dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, FSAI also highlights the close relationship between Australia and Indonesia in cinema. This year's line-up features notable films by Australian-Indonesian alumni, including the acclaimed martial arts saga, 'Pendekar Tongkat Emas', and the delightful romantic comedy, 'Milly & Mamet'.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moviegoers can also engage their creative energies at one of three seminar events masterclass<\/em> The virtual sessions were held online - covering animation, film promotion, and documentary and drone cinematography. FSAI 2021 friend and Australian alum Marissa Anita joined Australian film experts to present this live and interactive session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
