ADVICE LETTER
Number: 916/IT4/HK/2020
About
EARLY VIGILANCE RELATED TO THE CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK (COVID-19)

Dear Academics and Education Personnel
Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta
in Yogyakarta

In connection with the increasingly widespread outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease which began to occur in 2019) and to avoid undesirable things, we urge all academicians and education personnel of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta to:

  1. Practice healthy living behavior by washing hands more often with soap (alcohol based hand rub/hand sanitizer), eat healthy food to increase endurance, minimize unnecessary crowd activities.
  2. Suspend overseas travel for purposes that can be postponed, especially in countries affected by COVID-19. If there is an overseas travel plan that is very important and must be carried out, it must obtain prior written permission from the Rector or other officials appointed by the Rector.
  3. If you have just returned from traveling from countries with a high incidence of COVID-19 such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea (both yourself and family members) to immediately isolate yourself at home for at least 14 days, and immediately check to the nearest hospital if there are symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath.
  4. Protect yourself and the environment by wearing a mask and reducing interaction with other lSI Yogyakarta academics and family/household members for those who experience influenza symptoms.
  5. If there is an emergency condition for lecturers, education staff, and students who experience influenza symptoms with a high increase in body temperature, it is advisable not to carry out teaching and learning activities and services, by asking permission from direct superiors for lecturers and education staff, and asking permission from lecturers for students.

Thus this appeal is conveyed, thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Yogyakarta, March 2, 2020
Rector

The circular letter is in line with the appeal of the Minister of Health, Dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, who asked all Indonesians to maintain their own and family's health by continuing to clean living behavior and healthy along with the outbreak of coronavirus cases detected in China and several countries around the world.

According to the Minister of Health, what needs to be realized is the importance of maintaining one's own health because prevention is the best and cheapest. The steps to prevent and protect yourself from Corona Virus are by implementing GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement) with some of the following activities:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Exercise regularly and get enough rest
  • Keep the environment clean
  • No smoking
  • Drink 8 glasses of mineral water/day
  • Eat perfectly cooked food and do not eat meat from animals with the potential to transmit
  • If fever and shortness of breath, go to a health facility immediately.
  • Use a mask when coughing or cover your mouth with your inner upper arm
  • Don't forget to pray

By improving one's own and family's health, it is expected to create a clean environment and reduce the risk of disease.
