The demise of Asmat culture


Joshua Irwandi, a talented young photographer and MA winner from Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, University of the Arts London, London College of Communication, UK, had the opportunity to attend the Photography Study Program FSMR ISI Yogyakarta on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Joshua Irwandi made a presentation about his documentary photo project in Asmat, Papua. This documentary project tells how photography media is used to discuss the various value shifts that occur in Asmat society. A similar presentation was done at Objectifs Center for Photography and Film, Singapore, with the title Not A Blank Canvas. Joshua Irwandi also shared his experiences while studying photography in the UK and participating in various photography events abroad. The event, which was open to the public, was attended by around 40 people.
