ONE MORE TIME! PHOTOGRAPHY STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS FROM ISI YOGYAKARTA ACHIEVE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IN AN ART EXHIBITION IN CHINA

Yogyakarta, October 9, 2025, Sigit Suseno, a student from the Photography Study Program, Faculty of Visual Art and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, has achieved a proud accomplishment by passing the selection for the international art exhibition ”The 1st HNU International Student Art Exhibition” organized by Hainan University, China.
The photography work titled ”The Last Dance with Jane Doe,” created by Sigit Suseno (listed in the catalog as Sigurd Suceno), was successfully selected from hundreds of artworks submitted from various countries. At least 30 international colleges and universities, photography institutions, galleries, and media participated in the event. This exhibition showcases the best works of international students and can be accessed online through a virtual platform.
The jury for this event consists of 11 highly qualified individuals with diverse backgrounds, including presidents of renowned photography associations, artistic directors of international photography festivals, heads of photography programs from various universities, as well as distinguished experts and scholars. Led by an artistic director of an international photography festival, this ensures that the entire process is conducted professionally and credibly.
This achievement is not only a personal pride for Sigit, but also proof that art education in Indonesia is capable of competing on the international stage. The selected work, “The Last Dance with Jane Doe,” demonstrates artistic and technical quality recognized by international curators.
The success of these students from the Photography Study Program at the Faculty of Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta) is a tangible manifestation of ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to producing young artists with global competitiveness.
