Since 2013, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta has received a mandate from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (at that time) to assist the establishment of a pilot Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture in East Kalimantan located in Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. For the initial stage of establishment, 4 Study Programs (Prodi) were opened, namely; Craft Prodi, Dance Prodi, Ethnomusicology Prodi, and Film and Television Prodi.

In the initial year of lectures, ISBI students were 'entrusted' at the ISI Yogyakarta campus for the teaching and learning process with full scholarships from the Kaltim Cemerlang Scholarship provided by the East Kalimantan Provincial government. The number of students in the Film and Television Study Program on the main campus is 63 students, with details: class of 2013 totaling 22 students, class of 2014 totaling 29 students, and class of 2015 totaling 12 students, most of whom have graduated and a small number are currently taking their final project.

Furthermore, students outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) of ISBI Kaltim Pilot, since 2016 have conducted lectures in Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan by occupying part of the Mulawarman Museum Building in the Kutai Kartanegara Palace complex. The number of PSDKU students is 69 students with details: class of 2016 totaling 27 students, class of 2017 totaling 24 students, and class of 2016 totaling 18 students.

The implementation of the Film and Television Study Program TA exam during the Covid-19 pandemic was carried out online, including students in East Kalimantan. A total of 22 students came forward to account for their final project work at the final project session which was held on August 7-14, 2020. The 22 students' final project works consist of 14 documentary works, 3 fiction film works, 2 scriptwriting works, 2 television program works. magazine show1 television program work variety showThe overall object comes from the richness of culture and the problems that develop within the scope of East Kalimantan society.

It is hoped that with the completion of the TA by 22 ISBI East Kalimantan PSDKU students, it can make a real contribution to the process of archiving the culture of East Kalimantan which is very numerous and widely spread in East Kalimantan. Indirectly it will also be a means for publication and promotion of tourism and cultural potential in East Kalimantan. This is in line with the many cultural findings that are almost extinct because they are eroded by the progress of the times (Ag).
