IMAJI Roadshow Exhibition #2 Alternative Photographic Processes

The Roadshow IMAJI #2 Alternative Photographic Processes exhibition is the fruit of the Photography Student Imagery course exhibition at the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta. After successfully organizing an exhibition in the city of Yogyakarta, precisely at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta on January 11-15, 2016, the authors want to continue to disseminate knowledge about oldprint photographic printing techniques, precisely those that were commonly applied in the 19th century.
The #2 Imagery Exhibition took place at the NEO Journalism Club, Antara Journalistic Photography Gallery on June 3 - 16, 2016 and was officially opened by Marsudi, S.Kar., M.Hum Dean of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta, this time entitled "Alternative Photographic Processes" is one of the results of re-reading the artifacts of past photographic culture, particularly the idea of photo printing technology in the 19th century. The exhibition features selected works made by applying past photographic printing methods, including cyanotype.blue print, vandykebrown print, and gum bichromate. As they were all 19th-century photographic inventions, this meant that the participants were exhibiting photographs that they had made non-machinally or "by hand". To make works of this kind, they first had to concoct a chemical concoction to obtain a light-sensitive emulsion, apply it onto a medium that served as "photo paper", and process it to produce a distinctive and exhibition-worthy photographic image.
As additional information, the exhibition also briefly describes some of the photographic printing processes used. This was done to give viewers an idea of the processes that the artists in this exhibition had to go through. In addition, there were also miniworkshop About cyanotype which was filled by the KOPPI Student Activity Group (Keluarga Old Photographic Processes) ISI Yogyakarta. Free of charge.
