Breaking the Boundaries of Creativity.
Bantul Regent H. Abdul Halim Muslih opened the International photography exhibition at TEMBI Rumah Budaya Yogyakarta on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. In his opening speech, he explained the importance of developing photography on par with other art forms. For a long time, people have only known photography as a medium for documentation and commercial photos. It is now time for photography to develop as a medium of self-expression, as artists are known as creative individuals with brilliant ideas. H. Abdul Halim Muslih further explained that Bantul regency actually has many artists and art education institutions, such as FSMR ISI Yogyakarta. Therefore, through this International photography exhibition with the theme “Migration”hopefully it can become a medium for friendship between nations.".

The exhibition initiated by three SAIKI Photography artists (M.A. Roziq, Achid Librianto, Alex Luthfie R), supported by the Dean of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, has successfully invited five lecturers from the Photography Department of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, four lecturers from the Creative Photomedia Department, Faculty of Art & Design UITM Shah Alam Malaysia, one lecturer from the Photography Department of ISI Surakarta, two photography artists from Jakarta, one lecturer from the Photography Department of STSRD VISI Yogyakarta, and one from Denpasar, Bali. All of them are active academics and photography artists who create, experiment, and dare to dismantle the conventions of photographic work.

In line with the Regent of Bantul's hopes, the Dean of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, representing the exhibition participants and FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, explained that the Migration exhibition is one of many indicators in defining and offering art photography in the current era. This can be a sign that photography artists never stop creating and continue to push the boundaries of creativity.

The organization of this exhibition is expected to address pessimistic thoughts when COVID-19 has destroyed human morale and will to live. Therefore, with a cross-country exhibition program, SAIKI Photography Yogyakarta, in collaboration with FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, has answered this by presenting Indonesian and Malaysian photography artists exhibiting together, with the hope that their photographic works can be appreciated by the wider community.
