INDONESIAN PHOTOGRAPHY SOCIETY ELECTS DR. IRWANDI, M.SN. AS VICE CHAIRMAN OF MFI TO ACCOMPANY ANDI KUSNADI

The Indonesian Photography Society (MFI) is a non-profit association established as a result of the consensus of the Indonesian Photography Congress, which was initiated and formalized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia so that it was officially incorporated in 2015. MFI is designed to be a platform that brings together various stakeholders in the world of photography, namely; photography practitioners, academics, business and government. 

The Indonesian Photography Society (MFI) is a forum that plays an umbrella role, encouraging cooperation and coordination between stakeholders - both individuals and all forms of associations, communities, photography professional associations and so on - to develop the photography sector in Indonesia. MFI aims to make photography in Indonesia one of the driving forces in Indonesia's Creative Industries, capable of competing internationally with high standards and quality. For this purpose, in addition to establishing an Executive Board and a network of Partners spread across a number of provinces in Indonesia, MFI also has an Honorary Board and a Supervisory Board consisting of a number of figures in the Indonesian Creative and Photography Industries. 

The Department of Photography, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta as the first higher education institution in the field of photography in Indonesia certainly felt called to answer the invitation of the Honorary Board and the Board of Trustees to participate in the MFI forum. As a form of realization of the tri dharma of higher education, FSMR sent its representative from the Photography Department, namely Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. who is currently serving as Dean of FSMR, to join the management of MFI as a tangible manifestation of community service.

On Thursday, November 12, 2020, the Indonesian Photography Society (MFI) held an online General Meeting of Members (GMS) which was attended by 64 photography enthusiasts, MFI members from all over Indonesia, and a number of invitees. The AGM was held to regenerate the management, stay in touch, and unite ideas and thoughts to continue developing the world of Indonesian photography. RUA - MFI 2020 was attended by photography practitioners both individuals and communities, academics in the field of photography, photography industry business people, and the government. The event was opened by the Director of Creative Industries of Film, Television, and Animation of the Ministry of Tourism, and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Syaifullah SE, M.Ec., Ph.D.

The online general meeting took place from 9:00 WIB to 14:30 WIB through the Zoom application platform. The highlight of the general meeting was the election of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of MFI for the 2020-2023 term. The election was conducted through a voting mechanism at the 2020 RUA-MFI and the voting results resulted in the election of Andi Kusnadi (Semarang) as Chairperson and Irwandi (Yogyakarta) as Vice Chairperson of MFI for the 2020-2023 period by garnering 32 votes from 63 voters. Meanwhile, the other pair, Andrew Linggar and Dibya Pradana (Jakarta) received 31 votes.

MFI felt the need to establish an Executive Board and a network of Partners spread across a number of provinces in Indonesia to accommodate various photographic activities in Indonesia. MFI also has an Honorary Board and Supervisory Board consisting of a number of figures in the Indonesian Creative and Photographic Industries. 

On the Board of Honor there are a number of figures, such as; Mari Elka Pangestu, Soedja'i Kartasasmita, Professor Soeprapto Soedjono, and Watie Moerany. One of the Honorary Board Members plans to invite Dr. Ir. Anton Apriyantono, MS to join the MFI Honorary Board. Meanwhile, on the Board of Trustees of MFI, there are a number of figures from the world of Indonesian photography, such as; Sigit Pramono, Oscar Motuloh, Firman Ichsan, Agus Leonardus, Arbain Rambey, Darwis Triadi, Don Hasman, Edmon Makarim, Edwin Djuanda, Fendi Siregar, Guntur Santoso, Imam Hartoyo, Irwan Kamdani, Johnny Hendarta, Ray Bachtiar, Riza Marlon, Risman Marah, Solihin Margo, Rio Helmi, and Yudhi Soerjoatmodjo. In the 2020 AGM - MFI, the Supervisory Board appointed Sigit Pramono as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, First Vice Chairman Edwin Djuanda and Second Vice Chairman Risman Marah. There are additions to the Supervisory Board, namely Hermanus Prihatna and Agatha Bunanta.

The regeneration of MFI management through RUA - MFI 2020, is expected to continue and develop MFI programs, and strengthen partner networks in various cities, for the development of the Indonesian photography world. 

The voting results favored Andi Kusnadi and Irwandi as Chairman and Vice Chairman of MFI 2020-2023 held on Thursday (12/11).
