FSMR STUDENTS GAIN INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE SILK ROAD NATIONAL YOUTH INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2021

The Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta once again achieved a tradition of international achievement. Two photography works by FSMR Photography Study Program students, Alfianto Andy Prasetyo Wibowo (1810925031) and Muhammad Ikhsanuddin (1810895031) and one video work by FSMR Film and Television study program student, Ghifton Rahmatan (2111160032) achieved achievements at the Silk Road National Youth International Photography Competition 2021 international competition with the theme "My Homeland" held in Beijing, China.

Alfianto Andy Prasetyo Wibowo's photography work titled "New Life" and Muhammad Ikhsanuddin's "Hopefully Get Well Soon" won the TOP-6 best photography works (Group C, 19 to 25 years old), followed by Ghifton Rahmatan's video work titled "Happiness Belongs Together" as the TOP-5 best video works (Group C, 19 to 25 years old). Their works beat nearly 70,000 thousand entries from 20 countries that were narrowed down to 270 finalists for photography works and 62 finalists for video works in various age classifications.

The Silk Road National Youth International Photography Competition 2021 (previously named Silk Road National Youth International Photography Contest) is an international cultural exchange event on the welfare of society through photo and video works that focus on the participation of young people aged 8 to 25 years. The 2021 competition and exhibition continues the theme of "My Homeland", divided into two categories: photography and video with group classifications based on ages 8 to 12 (group A), 13 to 18 (group B) and 19 to 25 (group C).

The competition and exhibition will encourage young people from around the world to use their cameras to record their homes and lives. Young people can interact and learn from each other across human civilizations and bear witness to building and inheriting cultures on the silk road through photography and video works.

The competition judging was held on October 12, 2021 at the Beijing Millennium Monument, China by 9 international photographers from China, Japan, Indonesia, and the UK online and offline. The works will be exhibited at the China Millennium Monument, Beijing from November 18 to 30, 2021. (Arif Sulistiyono)
