MONTHLY SCREEN #1: KAMISINEMA PRESENTS ALTERNATIVE FILM SCREENINGS AT ISI YOGYAKARTA

Yogyakarta, February 27, 2025 - The Faculty of Recording Media Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta once again witnessed the birth of an appreciation space for alternative cinema through the #1 Monthly Screening activity, organized by Kamisinema, a Student Activity Group (KKM) at the faculty. This activity took place in the Audio Visual Room, Deanate of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta and managed to attract 130 audiences from various backgrounds, including ISI Yogyakarta students, film communities in Yogyakarta, and the general public.

The screening starts at 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm, featuring a series of short films that raise deep reflections on the reality of life. The theme of this screening raises awareness of the difference between expectations and reality, a topic that is close to everyday life. The films invite the audience to accept the imperfections of the world and find meaning behind the various surprises that occur in life.

After the screening, the event continued with a discussion session from 20.30 WIB to 21.00 WIB. This session provided space for the audience to share their views and explore the meaning of the films that had been screened. The discussion was guided by Kamisinema representatives as well as several young filmmakers who were involved in the production of the short films screened. With a warm and interactive atmosphere, this discussion became a means for participants to broaden their horizons and understand various perspectives in the world of cinema.

According to one of the Kamisinema organizers, the main goal of the Layar Bulanan program is to bring back alternative film screenings to the public and enrich the understanding of short films, both from Indonesia and abroad. "We want to create a space for young filmmakers to share their work and build a more solid community in the world of cinema," said one of the Kamisinema representatives.

The success of #1 Monthly Screen marked the first step of a regular program initiated by Kamisinema. With high enthusiasm from the audience and dynamic discussions, this program is expected to continue and become one of the main platforms in the development of film appreciation in Yogyakarta. Kamisinema is committed to presenting more films with various themes in the next editions, as well as opening opportunities for young filmmakers to showcase their work to a wider public.
