FTV LECTURERS FROM ISI YOGYAKARTA SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE JAKARTA FILM WEEK 2025 TALENTS HUB PROGRAM

Jakarta — A lecturer from the Film and Television Study Program, Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (FSMR) at ISI Yogyakarta, Vera Isnaini, has been selected to participate in the Talents Hub program at Jakarta Film Week (JFW) 2025. This program, running from October 24-26, 2025, is part of the Industry Program – JFW NET, a new initiative designed to connect young filmmakers from Southeast Asia in a space for exchanging experiences, networking, and industry knowledge.

Vera revealed that she received an official invitation last August via email from Jakarta Film Week. The invitation asked her to join the Talents Hub, a program that facilitates creative capacity development and builds cross-country collaborations.

During the activity, Vera followed an intensive schedule, beginning with industrial visits to Vidio and Super8mm Studio, which provided a firsthand glimpse into the development of Indonesia's content production and distribution ecosystem. She then participated in a directing masterclass that covered creative approaches, artistic decision-making, and the dynamics of a director's work throughout the production process.

Additionally, Vera participated in pitching sessions, where participants presented their project ideas to a curation team and producers to receive professional feedback. She also attended the forum “From Chaos to Cinema: Navigating Film Production for Stories that Travel” with Visinema Group practitioners Mia Santosa and Ifan Ismail, which highlighted production strategies for stories to penetrate international markets.

In another forum titled “Beyond the Lens: Storytelling through Directing,” directors Amanda Nell Eu and Kamila Andini shared their experiences on directing methods and how to build an authentic visual language. Vera also attended the “Film Market & Festival 101: Navigating Curation, Market & Audiences” session, which discussed the intricacies of festival curation, film market strategies, and how to reach global audiences.

Besides academic and professional agendas, Vera also attended various film screenings at Jakarta Film Week 2025, broadening her perspective on Southeast Asian cinema trends and selected films from various countries.

Vera Isnaini's participation in this Talents Hub reaffirms her contribution as both an academic and a film practitioner. The experience she gained is expected to equip her to enrich the learning process at ISI Yogyakarta and open new collaboration opportunities in the Indonesian film industry and the Southeast Asian region. Through her involvement, Vera brings back global insights that strengthen the position of ISI Yogyakarta's academic community within an increasingly competitive film ecosystem.
