This webinar carries the theme "Career Paths in the Animation Industry" as an illustration of the existence and function of animation applied to various media has experienced changes in perspective based on assumptions from the public, including

  1. Production Technic

Animation production that focuses on the type of technique used, for example filmmaking with animation techniques. Then, the existence of animation is only used as a technique, because if animation is seen only as a technique, the animation is not maximized.

2. Business Entity

Animation is an entity that can stand alone, when viewed in terms of the animation business, the business entity is a derivative product of animation, namely Merchandise.

3. Animator

In print media and OnlineMany times, animation is only considered as an icon of the people who are in it and label the creators as "animators". In the world of the animation industry, this is contradictory, because "animator" itself is a small part or one of the professions of animation production in the animated film industry.

Mr. Moh. Rif'an explaining about career paths in the animation industry at the event online zoom meeting titled "Career Paths in the Animation Industry" (07/27/2020)

The career paths in the animation industry that we need to understand are as follows:

  1. Profession

The plural of the animation profession is 2D artist, 3D Artist, CG Artist, Vfx Artist. Specifically, they are Executive Producer, Producer, Story Director, Technical Director, Animation Director, Art Director, Animator, Modeler Artist, Rigger Artist, Mocap Artist, Vfx Artist, Layout Artist, Storyboard Artist, Concept Artist, Compositor, Editor Sound Engineering.

2. Diversity

The difference between movie animation and animation motion graphics differentiated by area, namely motion and area emotion. Motion graphic is in the area of motion because it only needs to move the object. Animated movies are in the area of emotion because of the movement of the animation that represents the emotions and even the acting of the characters and objects.

3. Occupation Map

Careers in animation through occupational mapping can be seen from credit a movie. The occupational map related to KKNI in Indonesia is as below:

The occupational map explains that the career path moves from bottom to top starting from Executive Clerk, Junior, Intermediate or Middle, Senior, Lead, Development or Designer, Supervisor, to Director which are divided based on their field of work ranging from Technical, Motion, Visual, Editorial, Managerial. The career path will be difficult if it moves sideways because the career will continue to be at the lower level. On the other hand, it would be better if the career could move upwards from junior to senior to director on (specialized) fields motion Let's say.
