Photography Study Program (Prodi) students who have taken the final project exam take part in introductory activities and training in submitting scientific manuscripts through Open Journal Systems (OJS), in the Computer Laboratory, Photography Study Program Building, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, Wednesday, January 30, 2020. In this activity students are taught to do submission through the page Spectā: Journal of Photography, Arts, and Media which is integrated with the journal system at ISI Yogyakarta.
Previously, students only knew that sending scientific manuscripts to Spectā: Journal of Photography, Arts, and Media is done via email, but with the OJS system, all manuscript submissions must be done by email. Online through the intended journal page. This training is intended to make students recognize the OJS system which will be very useful for their academic needs.
According to the training coordinator Adya Arsita, S.S., M.A., who is also the Managing Editor of the journal Spectā: Journal of Photography, Arts, and MediaThe training not only provides new insights into the technicalities of submitting scientific manuscripts, but is also useful if the students want to pursue a Master's degree (S2). The majority of universities that provide S2 programs provide requirements in the form of proof of publication of articles in scientific journals. In the training, students were taught the steps of submitting articles starting from creating an account, filling in data, to the procedures for writing manuscripts in accordance with the format used by the journal. Students who have taken the final project exam are required to make a scientific paper whose content is usually the essence of the final project they made. All submitted papers will be selected by the editorial team. Selection is made on the quality, format, and type of research or study in the writing. Later, several manuscripts will be selected to be published in Spectā: Journal of Photography, Arts, and Media Volume 3 Number 1 in May 2020 or in Number 2 in November 2020. In addition to being published through OJS, the manuscript will also be published in printed form as a portfolio for the author. (Red.)
