Gunungkidul, June 28, 2025 - Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta through the Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) held a Film Acting Workshop in Tepus Kalurahan, Kapanewon Tepus, Gunungkidul Regency. This activity provides basic training in acting specifically for films, by involving the local community, including traditional art actors such as kethoprak, as well as residents who are interested in exploring modern acting.
The workshop held on Saturday (28/6) is part of a series of short film production final assignments of ISI Yogyakarta students. The activity was organized in collaboration between FSMR ISI Yogyakarta students, Tepus Village Government, and Tepus Village Tourism Village (DEWI KAMPUS), as a form of synergy between art education institutions and the community.
Participants received an introduction to the basic theory of film acting-which distinguishes screen acting from stage acting-and hands-on practice in front of the camera. Director-directed scene simulations, discussions, and evaluations became an important part of the training process that used a participatory and inclusive approach, while still considering the local cultural context.
FSMR students, Badra Andhipani Jagat and Alam Alghifari, became presenters and trainers in this workshop. The activity was also accompanied by the Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, Antonius Janu Haryono, and supported by the student production team and Tepus village officials.
The main objectives of this activity are to equip the community with basic film acting skills, open space for cross-sector collaboration, and empower the community in the realm of audio-visual performing arts. This workshop is expected to be the first step in the growth of interest and active participation of citizens in the production of local wisdom-based film works. (Public Relations)
