The Recording Media Art Exhibition "Jalan Menuju Media Kreatif" is an annual program organized by the Faculty of Recording Media Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta since 2009 and attended by students, teaching staff of the Photography, Television and Animation study programs of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta, colleagues in the academic world, industry, professionals and recording media art artists. This exhibition is dedicated to the public as a form of accountability for the existence and scientific development of the field of recording media arts, especially photography, television programs, films, animation and games as well as an indicator of the quality of teaching and learning at the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta. The fourteenth annual exhibition of recording media art "Jalan Menuju Media Kreatif" in 2022 specifically presents the theme "Actualization of Art for the Revival and Restoration of Life".
In the cultural field, our understanding of resurgence refers to a condition where the cultural aspect of a person has recovered after a loss or defeat for some reason, such as the health pandemic that has been very influential in the last 2 years. The human ability to bounce back after such conditions requires collective will and effort, and shows how we can work as a community. The JMMK 14 exhibition embraces resurgence within the scope of recovery from our contemporary lives. Therefore, JMMK 14 raises the idea of resurrection and recovery that is expected to be translated to artworks by adopting a multi-faceted review from history, material culture, spiritualism, environment, and ideology, to practical contexts.
The theme of the JMMK 14 exhibition was raised to accompany the spirit of the times experienced during the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The recording media art exhibition "Jalan Menuju Media Kreatif 14" will be held at the Fiap Exhibition Center, Pandeng Gallery, FSMR, ISI Yogyakarta on October 25 to November 1, 2022. The selection of the implementation time in October also coincides with the 29th anniversary of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta. The exhibition features works of photography, television programs, video-art, documentary films, story films, animated films and games of students and lecturers in the FSMR ISI Yogyakarta environment as well as guest works that are always invited to participate every year from various art colleges with recording media study programs that are members of BKS-PTSI (Art Coordinating Board of Indonesian Art Colleges), professional colleagues of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts, and guest participants from similar universities abroad who collaborate with FSMR ISI Yogyakarta.
In the 14th implementation in 2022, the committee again opened the opportunity for the academic community of the S1 Photography study program, the S1 Television and Film study program and the D3 Animation study program within the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta, art colleges that are members of BKS-PTSI, professionals in the field of recording media arts and colleges friends of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta abroad to participate again as participants and guest participants. The committee does not limit the theme of the work as long as the works to be exhibited do not contain elements of hatred against SARA and pornographic content. Hopefully this exhibition will receive positive appreciation in order to achieve noble ideals as part of efforts to explore the nation's identity through art.
