Thus, Pandeng Gallery now operating as FIAP Exhibition Center and can organize discussions and seminars as well as exhibitions of photography and audio visual arts (photography, videography, film, and animation) with international recognition from FIAP which is certainly very prestigious, because the ideas and ideas conveyed through the work will be appreciated by the international community. As an international standard gallery and a FIAP Exhibition Center The first in Southeast Asia, and the fourth in Asia, after China, Iran, and Oman, Pandeng Gallery will function optimally as a space for art education, appreciation, achievement, and recreation.
The appointment of Galeri Pandeng as an international exhibition space by FIAP makes ISI Yogyakarta the only campus with this status in ASEAN. With the existence of Pandeng Gallery as one of the FIAP Exhibition Center (FEC)As a result, Indonesia became part of the 83 countries on five continents that are members of the UN's non-profit photography organization, UNESCO.
To mark its inauguration, Pandeng Gallery held its inaugural exhibition with the theme "Limitless" ("Borderless, unlimited imagination"). The exhibition was officially opened last Tuesday, September 7, 2021 by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum. offline at FEC- Galeri Pandeng together with FIAP President, Riccardo Busi, MFIAP, HonEFIAP who joined online through Zoom. The event was held in blendedWhile the event was attended by a limited number of invitees offline and conducted under strict health protocols, other important guests joined in via Zoom. The rest of the world watched the grand event live via live streaming on ISI Yogyakarta's Photography Youtube channel.
The opening at the exhibition site was attended by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, along with the Assistant Rectors, the Dean of FSMR and the Assistant Deans, the Curator who is also the Vice Dean I of FSMR, Dr. Edial Rusli, S.E., M.Sn., the Heads of Departments and Heads of Study Programs in FSMR, as well as several important colleagues from FMSR ISI Yogyakarta. FIAP representatives were also present at the location, namely FIAP Liaison Officer Indonesia (FIAP Liaison Officer for Indonesia) and Secretary General of the Federation of Indonesian Senifoto Societies (FPSI), Harjanto Sumawan, MBA. and FPSI President, Johnny Hendarta.
This exhibition not only shows videography and animation works from FSMR lecturers and students, but also displays photography works in collaboration between FIAP with the support of FPSI together with the Photography Department, FSMR, ISI Yogyakarta.. Exhibition "Borderless, unlimited imagination" representing various forms of recorded media art, namely photography, videography, and animation as artistic expressions. A total of 100 works from 15 countries were exhibited (80 of which were from Indonesia), 20 works from 14 countries, 25 works from HISFA Yogyakarta members and 35 photography works from lecturers, students and colleagues of the Photography Department. Then, 10 videography works from lecturers and students of Film & Television Study Program and 10 animation works from lecturers and students of Animation Study Program. The exhibition was curated by Dr. Edial Rusli, S.E., M.Sn. (Head of Pandeng Gallery Management as well as Vice Dean I FSMR, ISI Yogyakarta).
"The purpose and benefit of the establishment of FEC - Viewing Gallery is to establish international cooperation between FSMR ISI Yogyakarta and FIAP. Exhibition Center around the world, thus opening up a wider network in the international art community. In addition, FEC-Gallery Pandeng will also further introduce Indonesian photographers and the work of students and lecturers. FSMR ISI Yogyakarta to the international scene through FIAP." This was conveyed by Dr. Edial Rusli, S.E., M.Sn.
The Dean of FSMR, ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., in his speech said that the inauguration of the "Borderless, Unlimited Imagination" exhibition at FEC-Gallery Pandeng was a milestone for FSMR. ISI Yogyakarta because it has a gallery that has been verified as an international gallery. This can certainly be a means for civitas academica FSMR, colleagues, and Indonesian artists to publish their work internationally and be appreciated by a global audience. With the inauguration of Pandeng FSMR Gallery, ISI Yogyakarta as FIAP Exhibition Centerthen the Dean of FSMR, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., was appointed as the Director of FEC- Pandeng Gallery.
Furthermore, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. said that now that FSMR ISI Yogyakarta has an international standard gallery, it is hoped that the ability of lecturers and students will increase in creating international quality works. Thus, hopefully one of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of higher education can be achieved, namely that lecturers and students exhibit works through the curatorial process by external curators.
'Borderles' as the theme of the exhibition seems to remind us that art (photography, videography and animation) is a manifestation of ideas and creativity that stem from limitless imagination.
