On the other hand, the monetization done on digital content is a business opportunity and added value for the players. content creator. YouTube channels are competing with each other to gain views and like most to be able to generate as much profit as possible with the strategy of creating content that is as interesting as possible. Many content creator who earn tens of millions and even hundreds of millions a month from the YouTube channels they manage with their own uniqueness. Ironically, many content creator In the digital content industry, creativity, marketing strategies, and business management skills are more important than business success.
The digital content industry is one of the industrial sectors that has a significant role, both in improving the economy and in building sustainability for society. For example, in the world of movies, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought a blessing of change from watching movies in theaters or through DVD/Blu-Ray sales turned into stream VoD (Video-on-Demand) utilizing an internet-based network website as well as mobile apps. Netflix, Viu, iFlix, Disney-Hotstar, and so on are examples of digital movie content providers although they have been around long before the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, digital movie content has emerged under the name bioskoponline.com, which offers a variety of choices at a very low cost and affordable for the average conventional moviegoer as an alternative way of watching movies.
This short course was initiated by the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta in collaboration with ELORA FILMS and VIU INDONESIA. This course aims to provide an entrepreneurial spirit perspective for students with the main competence in the field of recording media arts and other competencies, especially for students who have an interest in managing a digital content business. Through this course, students are expected to be able to utilize their expertise in the fields of film, video, photography, and animation as content business opportunities in the internet-based digital media ecosystem, be able to utilize various digital platforms as content distribution media that have an economic impact, be able to create and manage digital content both creatively and as a business, have persuasive communication skills and be able to develop themselves as individuals and teams in the world of the digital content industry.
