LIVE INSTAGRAM DISCUSSION OF FILM AND TELEVISION STUDY PROGRAM THEMED "COMPOSITION AS A STORY SPACE" WITH PIUS RINO PUNGKIAWAN

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Pius Rino Pungkiawan, lecturer in Film and TV study program, Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), ISI Yogyakarta shared and discussed his experiences related to cinematography in IG. live  with the theme "Composition as a Story Space". The event took place at 19.00 - 20.30 WIB. The event is a regular discussion with art as the main theme that is held every Wednesday night. The event was initiated and moderated by Ghalif Pitra Sadewa, who is an alumnus of Film and TV Study Program class of 2012, FSMR, ISI Yogyakarta.

A discussion focusing on composition as visual storytelling This has been applied to Pius Rino Pungkiawan's previous film works, namely in "Selibat" (2013) and "Marak" (2015). Composition is an important part to understand because information can be conveyed to the audience more effectively and efficiently through visual language. Composition directs and invites the audience to focus on certain information in the film. frame according to the purpose of the series shot that is created. Various composition rules need to be understood before breaking the rule because it can have an impact on the original purpose shot it was created. It is expected that with IG live the night could open the audience's insight into the composition in the movie that functions as a visual storytelling.

After the material was presented, a question and answer session was opened. Some of the questions from the discussion participants mostly asked whether composition can build visual character in a movie, and what about composition issues. It is planned that Pius Rino Pungkiawan will again be a guest speaker at a similar event, but with a different theme.
