A PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION IN COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE EMBASSY OF PERU IN INDONESIA AND FSMR ISI YOGYAKARTA

The Embassy of Peru in Indonesia and the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta proudly present "Portraits from my Blood" a photography exhibition by talented young photographer David Díaz, which offers the daily experiences and rich cultural heritage of the Shipibo-Konibo community in the Peruvian Amazon by displaying 25 black and white photographs that capture the daily life of the Shipibo community and offer inspiring documentation of the Amazonian roots and the rich culture and history that continues to evolve in the community "Shipibo-Konibo: Portrait of My Blood" which is a collaboration between the Embassy of Peru in Indonesia and the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta held on September 9 - 23, 2024 at Pandeng Gallery, FSMR ISI Yogyakarta. The exhibition was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Recording Media Arts ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Edial Rusli S.E., M.Sn., and the Ambassador of Peru to Indonesia, Mr. Luis Tsuboyama.

"Portraits from My Blood" features a collection of black and white photographs that capture the intimate moments and daily rituals of the Shipibo-Konibo community. From women smoothing bags and painting lips to children splashing in the Ucayali lagoon, Díaz's lens offers a window into the heart of her ancestral culture. His work goes beyond documentation, presenting narratives of history and cultural identity with a modern sensibility. This exhibition promises to be an extraordinary journey into the spirit of the Amazon and a testament to the power of photography in preserving cultural identity. (Ray)
