Xantia Mitochondria Askandar to Study at Arizona State University through the IISMA Award 2022 Program

The Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (FSMR) at ISI Yogyakarta has every reason to be proud as Xantia Mitochondria Askandar, a student from the Film and Television Study Program (Prodi) Class of 2020, has been selected for the program Indonesian International Mobility Award (IISMA) 2022. Xantia received a scholarship to study at Arizona State University, Phoenix, America for a full semester in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. She chose to study business at Arizona State University, America because the university is ranked in the top 100 worldwide and her hope is that she will become more financially literate and be able to support her future career in film and television. Initially, when she found out she was selected as awardee IISMA 2022, he thought he would be studying at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, which he had chosen as his second option at the time. However, who would have thought that he would actually get the golden opportunity to succeed with his first choice at Arizona State University in America.

The selection process for the IISMA 2022 scholarship was long and winding, lasting several months. It involved a stack of documents that had to be prepared promptly and several tests that needed to be taken. The competition for the scholarship to Arizona State University was also very fierce. However, her determination to contribute to the Indonesian film industry on a globally competitive scale strengthened her resolve to overcome all these challenges.

A while before his departure to America on August 11, 2022, Xantia shared important notes that he hopes will encourage his fellow students:

"My mother once told me: “If you try, you will either succeed or fail. But if you don't try, you will only fail.So be courageous, you won't regret it! Now if you're reading this and are thinking of applying for the IISMA program or any other stepping stones that might cross your mind, then congratulations: you have the drive to be a winner. Just remember, if you live your life like a champ, think like a champ, and act like a champ, you'll eventually become one.”

The IISMA 2022 program was attended by thousands of participants from all over Indonesia, and Xantia, along with 7 (seven) colleagues from other faculties at ISI Yogyakarta, became some of the lucky Indonesian students to receive scholarships abroad as awardee IISMA 2022.

FSMR ISI Yogyakarta congratulates and wishes success to Xantia Mitochondria Askandar, and may the FSMR YES banner continue to fly wherever you are. (aa)
